OXO-Unlimited @ Norberg!

We’ve managed to put together a whole OXO-Unlimited showcase consisting of Awt, nitro2k01 and Veqtor for this year’s Norberg festival!

Babyshaker will be playing too, but had already been snatched to represent the Oslo Break Fest Crew. Oerfil will be throwing down some massive acid business with our common friend, Marcus Ihlar as Ph1 AxXxid Crew and lots more!

I highly recommend this festival for anyone living in europe who is still thinking about what to do between the 24th and 27th of July.

We’re of course not the only great artists who’ll be playing there, Skream, Bong-Ra, Ars Dada & the OBF crew, Mats Lindström, Mattias Petersson, Psilodump and Zabutom are just some of the other excellent artists who’ll be entertaining you this year!
DON’T MISS IT!!!

Gameboy Ounk Console - An Atari Punk Console clone
January 23rd, 2007 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

Atari Ounk Console Overview
What started out as a spelling mistake, turned into the final name for this little thing. It’s an Atari Punk Console, with added control, making it a thing with the annoying name Gameboy Ounk Console. Apart from the shape and frequency knobs, there’s an LDR (Light dependent resistor) for light control and four screws for body contact. However, the volume knob has been removed to be able to fit everything in.
The case is a small Gameboy-shaped box that I got as a gift from Dj Scotch Egg during his stay in Stockholm. I promised him to build a noise producing device in it, a promise that I’ve obviously kept.
Gameboy Ounk Console - Rear View
This is the rear view, and the battery’s brand name has been censored, because their batteries suck!
Gameboy Ounk Console - View Inside
This is a peek inside the machinery. Compactness comes at a price. Wires and components have been soldered directly onto the 556 IC and wrapped in plastic tape to form a true rat’s nest. This gives an optimal size, but maes it almost impossible to fix the thing, would it break.

And as usual, here are some sound samples:

More LED-boys
January 17th, 2007 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: 1 ]

For a few days I thought I had lost the LED boy, but fortunately, it was just well hidden away. Today I decided to shoot it, as well as yellowboy, our modded yellow Gameboy.
From now on all pictures related to Gameboy modding will be available here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gameboygenius/tags/ledboy/

New distribution from 2007
January 2nd, 2007 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

OXO-Unlimited will from now on be distributed by Tumul-Distro, who are also responsible for distributing Babylon Disco’s 8BITERROR Label. We’re looking to provide all of our current releases within the next two months. I’m sorry if this makes for any form of inconvenience for you. We’re doing our best to provide a truly high quality product for you and we’re very unpleased with the quality that cafepress provides.

It is unfortunate that there isn’t a proper, high-quality, affordable press-on-demand cd-service available. The concept is great.

Veqtor & Nitro2k01 + Television = True?
January 2nd, 2007 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

Yes these must be strange days indeed, for I’ve just got confirmation on me (veqtor) and nitro2k01’s participation in an upcoming Swedish tv ad. I can’t really give any details at this point but I can tell you this much: It is about making braindance and other experimental music. No i’m not bullshitting you. Happy new year

Zero Data Index: Unreleased & a word about pirating music released on “independent/indie” labels
December 30th, 2006 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

Zero data index is dead, long live zero data index 2.0… What the hell?

Yes

Hell, I’m going to do something probably none has ever done before:
I’m going to Un-Release an album. I’m not pleased with it to be honest.
Version 2.0 will be re(?)released, it’ll be remastered, in some ways different and much richer in content when I feel it is something I can be proud of.

The whole purpose of oxo is that we deliver something of a truly high quality, something we’ve all felt lacks in modern electronic music. Too many artists and labels fill out albums and compilation with mindless material that seems to have no proper purpose but to fill out those minutes. This is the age of mp3 and thus you as a consumer often find it insane to even think about paying for something that you don’t truly support, I can understand that some people think this way. But I still buy cd’s, why?

If there’s none paying for the music we all love what will keep the artists making it? Will they live on our love for their music? Can they live on air and water and produce idm while not affording electricity?

I think a lot of people don’t really understand how hard it actually is being an artist. Probably the only artists who might be able to life their lifes of making music within this genre would be AFX and Squarepusher. Maybe even the flashbulb and richard devine for their ad-work. But that’s about it.

Please support the music you like by buying it. MP3 wasn’t sent by some god to save you from the evil greedy musicians, it’s a peice of technology that is easily abusable. I do support some forms of piracy.

And yes I can unrelease an album if I want.
